Dr Calum Rankin came to me for professional portraits at his Dundee office. As a clinical psychologist, creating a sense of trust and approachability through his online presence was particularly important.
Starting Point
Calum needed professional portraits that felt natural and approachable, while still communicating the professionalism of his work. Like many people who aren't used to being photographed, he arrived feeling a little unsure about being in front of the camera.
Challenge
The aim was to create portraits that felt like Calum rather than overly posed or formal headshots — images that could help potential clients feel a sense of familiarity and trust before making contact.
Shooting Concept
We worked in Calum's own Dundee office, using the environment to add context while keeping the focus on him.
Rather than rushing into poses, we took time to talk and settle into the session. As he became more comfortable, we were able to capture a range of natural expressions and moments of quiet confidence.
Outcome
A collection of professional portraits that feel natural, calm and approachable, reflecting both Calum's personality and the trust at the heart of his work.
