So, you hate being photographed?

Let me ask you a few questions.

What exactly do you hate?
And is it really hatred?

Do you feel uncomfortable because you’ve never really seen a photo of yourself that you loved, only ones that made you think you look fat, awkward, or not like yourself?

Do you struggle with not being in control of what the camera captures? It’s all about you and it’s out of your hand.

Or is it that the whole thing feels overwhelming: what to wear, how to pose, where to even start, and so you’d rather not go there at all?

And underneath all of that…

Is it the judgement perhaps?

Your own, first.
The way you look at a photo and immediately pick yourself apart.

And then the imagined judgement of others.
What will they see? What will they think? Will they think I am vain for getting professional photos done?

So avoiding the camera feels safer.

But here’s the thing.

Being photographed can feel uncomfortable, yes, but that discomfort isn’t a bad thing. It can guide you towards kindness, compassion, acceptance, towards letting go of your head running the show.
It usually points to something deeper.

It shows you where you’re holding on tightly.
Where you’re used to criticising yourself.
Where you’re not used to being seen.

Hear it all, feel it all. Sit with it for a moment, don’t avoid, run away, push aside.

This will stretch your comfort zone.
You build a different kind of confidence , quieter, more real, more from within.
You begin to appreciate yourself, instead of constantly judging.

So if you know you need photos, for your business or anything else, find a photographer you are drawn to.

And then allow yourself to be a little uncomfortable, to be guided, to enjoy this little adventure.

It will serve you far beyond the photos.
